A warm fruit crumble is a tasty dessert anytime of year. During the winter months it is very difficult to find fresh flavorful fruit so frozen fruit is a great option. The variety of fruit available gives so many options. Substitute your favorite fruits and create your own crumble. Enjoy!
Ingredients (6 servings)
Filling
- 1 lb package frozen sliced peaches
- 1 lb package frozen whole strawberries
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Topping
- 2/3 cup flour
- 2/3 cup old fashion oats
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter
Directions
Grease an 8 X 8 glass baking dish with butter and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the peaches, strawberries and brown sugar. (Photo A) Let the mixture set for at least 30 minutes. Mix the lemon juice and cornstarch and add to fruit. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish. (Photo B)
In the bowl of the food processor, add the flour, oats, almonds, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cube the butter into 1/2 inch cubes. Add the butter to the food processor.(Photo C) Pulse until the butter is the size of peas. Sprinkle the mixture over the filling (Photo D) and bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. The filling should be bubbling and the topping browned. (Photo E)
Let the crumble cool for at least 20 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
